SYNOPSIS

A workaholic sound-engineer who barely gave time to his own family, Jong Cheol (Tak Jae Hoon) loses both his wife and his son in one flash. Calling it quits, his wife walks out of the marriage, taking with her their only son with whom Jong Cheol never quite established a good paternal bond. Tak Jae Hoon departs from the slapstick roles of Marrying the Mafia 2 and The Worst Guy Ever to reveal a more tender and serious side, thanks to director Choi who saw past Tak's nonchalant comical fascade. Tokyo TV - 25 x 25 minute episodesThis is a new live-action TV series, based on the classic anime and manga, but following up the recent success of the live-action movie, which was even released on DVD in the US. Although the new series isn’t as futuristic as the movie, and also lacks Erika Sato (The Slit-Mouthed Woman) in the lead, it still provides sexed-up Kamen Rider thrills with huge buckets of humour.Cutie Honey, a ditzy do-gooding android, even manages to work her bust into the weekly kickboxing fights with the enemy hordes. There's also some brief topless nudity, indicating that this was aired later at night.Honey is usually chirpy and naïve in her many undercover disguises, though of course she's hiding on Earth disguised as a schoolgirl. She saves up her aggression and skills for her transformations into a one-woman fighting machine. Mikie Hara appears to be doing many of the complex fighting scenes herself.The story concerns the evil organisation Panther Claw's six-pronged attack on law-abiding society, including the use of alien nano-technology to turn humans into bio-weapons and mobile phones into swords!Only Honey Kisaragi can physically stop them, but as usual she still needs help. Besides her usual dapper, private eye, sidekick Seiji Hayami (Syouma Yamamoto), she befriends the surprisingly informative occupants of a riverside shanty village (now a common sight with so many homeless people in Japan's big cities). Also, it appears that she's not the only super-android in the neighbourhood...Cutie Honey is a perfect chance to dress up a beautiful actress in a wild variety of sexy wish-fulfilment outfits, catering for an ogling audience. Though it's treated in a cheeky way, rather than laciviously. The good-natured, infantile, slapstick humour alternates with the fairly nasty antics of the invading aliens. It's a uniquely bizarre comedy superhero adventure that you can only find on televisions far, far away.Cutie Honey has appeared in many anime series that are just now appearing on DVD in the USA. Whether or not Cutie Honey - The Live will follow up these and the movie, remains to be seen.Volume 1 of a non-subtitled DVD release is imminent in Japan. One Liter of Tears (2005)

This drama is based on a true story written from the diaries of a fifteen-year-old girl, Kito Aya. Aya is an ordinary girl, the daughter of a family who works at a tofu shop, and a local high school student. However, as Aya went through life that year, odd things began happening to her. She has been falling down, having a hard time performing simple tasks, and generally lacking in coordination.

Her mother takes her to see a doctor for an examination. He informs Shioka that her daughter has a degenerative disease known as spinocerebellar atrophy, where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates. There will come a point where Aya will not even be able to move or speak becoming a full fledged vegetable! Aya's life to this point has treated her very fairly, being the star basketball player in her school and the class representative for her grade. So how will this cruel disease affect her life and how will she react when told about it? How will Aya live from now on?

Kenichi also has a secret crush on a young lady called Midori, yet he's too shy to speak to her. Though as he watches Hattori trying his best, he too begins to try. Meanwhile, people are being found unconscious, their bodies completely unmarked. All the victims have a tattoo (the Koga Ninja crest) and are found with a throwing knife lying close by.

Legend of Twins Dragon is about Leung Bik, the wayward son of Wing Chun master Leung Jaan, who runs away from home in order to learn martial arts and surpass his father. Leung Jaan has refused to teach Leung Bik Wing Chun due to his improper behavior, despite his natural talent for martial arts.

This film is a movie edit of the Wing Chun TV series, a 2007 remake of the 1994 series that preceded the film “Wing Chun”.
Adapted from the 1982 kung fu classic The Prodigal Son, 2007 period drama Wing Chun teams legendary martial arts stars Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao with Hong Kong heartthrob Nicholas Tse. Yuen Biao is martial arts master Liang Zan, the same role he played in the The Prodigal Son, but he who was once young and rash is now a respected master and physician, not to mention the father of two sons.
Liang Zan must pass on his kung fu skills to the next generation, but his son Liang Bi (Nicholas Tse) is reckless, aimless, and irresponsible, much like him in his youth. I was never a Cutie Honey fan and the thought of a live action version did
not thrill me at all. It wasn't until I had read a couple of reviews that I
thought perhaps this was worth a look. Having seen the film I can honestly
say that this film is absolutely worth a look or two or six.
Cutie Honey is a cyborg super heroine that is out to stop the Panther Claw
Gang which has kidnapped her uncle. A year earlier they had killed her father
in order to get secret of her existence. Honey pops in and out of disguises as
she is hounded by the bad guys, a reporter and a female cop.
The film plays like Power Rangers on acid, mixed with comedy, drama,
animation, J-Pop music videos and at least a dozen other things. Its a blast
and a half. If you're not hooked in the first five minutes you'll never be, but
odds are you will be, especially if you take it on its own terms. Its not really
for small kids since there is death and ample bosoms but if you're knowing
teen or adult you're the perfect audience for this gem.
I want to give the movie a 10 on the fun scale but I have to refrain simply
because the middle third is rather slow, especially when compared to the
action that begins and end this movie. There is something about that slow
part that it never recovers from.
If you like comedy, action, spoofs, super heroes or any type of movies short
of the heaviest of Bergman or other suicide inducing films give this one a
shot, it will probably make you smile from ear to ear.

Brash, loudmouthed and opportunistic, Kikujiro hardly seems the ideal companion for little Masao who is determined to travel long distances to see the mother he has never met. Kikujiro is a movie with beautiful calmness that's a great diversity from the fast cut movies today. Takeshi Kitano proofs once and for all, that he's a master filmmaker that will forever be remembered. And even though he dislikes the fame that goes along with his more successful movies (Zatoichi), it's a shame he doesn't get more recognition for his films.

Kikujiro no natsu tells the story of a kid who decides to visit his mother that he never met. Through odd circumstances kikujiro (Kitano), though absolutely unqualified, is forced to lead the kid. But as we see only moments later the boy would be better off alone, as kikujiro's fondness of gambling and (very amusing) way to treat people makes the journey a funny and quite touching odyssee.

What stands out in this movie is the simple comedy. It shows Kitano started off as a comedian, and his dialogue and acting made me almost spill my milk more than a few times. This is certainly one of his best. A great film for a quiet, rainy sunday afternoon.

Space Travelers - Supêsutoraberâzu (2000) starring Takeshi Kaneshiro

Review : Space Travelers is in general a comedy with a lot of great laughs but also with some melodramatic moments. I'm sure that some people will find these more dramatic pieces a little cheesy but I found that they added a second level to the movie. I like to laugh during a comedy but if I don't feel anything special while watching the movie I will probably not want to watch it again and again. The first part of the movie contained most of the best jokes and the second part becomes a little more serious as the friendly gang realize that there's not a lot of options remaining to escape from the bank. The humor was very good, subtle and effective. Don't expect a crazy comedy with slapstick humor cause it is far from that style. The humor was also very international, since most of the jokes were situational; you don't need to know Japanese culture that much to really appreciate the humor of the movie. But if you already like Japanese movies, you will be able to appreciate the movie even more.

But things don´t work out as easy as planned, as a cop suspects them of being serial killers, one of their captives turns out suicidal and may not live until the ritual, the daughter´s prey/boyfriend secretly films their sexual acts and tries to sell it as human-fox-porn and the foxes find out that human behaviour isn´t as easily imitated as they thought. They also have a tendency to burst into song and dance numbers throughout the movie. A bit like "The Addams Family" meets "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", Korean style.

Synopsis:

Han Seung-wan (Kim Jae Won) leaves for Singapore to surprise his girlfried on her birthday. Jung Se-jin (Eugene) is on the same flight - she has worked hard to save money for her trip to Singapore to say farewell to her deceased "first love" who died saving a tourist in Singapore. Due to a series of incidences at the airport, they mistakenly take each other's passports. They meet again at the police station when Seung-wan is arrested for attempting to break into his girlfriend's apartment wearing a spiderman suit! Seung-wan and Se-jin end up spending the day together comforting each other - Se-jin sights his girlfriend with another and Seung-wan when she thinks of her lost love. They inadvertently spend the night together.

Back in Korea, Se-jin discovers she is pregnant. She tries to tell Seung-wan, but he is too engrossed with getting back with his girlfriend that she changes her mind. She leaves to have the baby alone.

A series of events leads to Seung-wan discovering that he has fathered a child with Se-jin and that Se-jin has "died". Seung-wan's life is thrown into array as he is now forced to face fatherhood and the anger of his girlfriend - Lee Chae-young (Han Eun Jung) - who vows never to see him again. Se-jin reappears and the couple is forced to get married by their respective families. The rest of the story revolves around the couple journey in learning to take responsibility, and learning to love each other (credit to Dramawiki for the sypnosis).

Tianqiao bu jianle (The Skywalk Is Gone) (2002) - Ming-liang Tsai

Perhaps this is best described as a curio. It's an addendum to What Time Is It There?, Tsai's previous feature. The girl in that film (Shiang-chyi Chen) has returned to Taipei from Paris (with no indication of how long she's been gone or how long she's been back), and she is searching for the man who sold her a watch on a skywalk (Kang-sheng Lee). But, as the title states, the skywalk is gone...

Home Sweet Home / Gwai muk [Chinese][2005]

Taiwanese actress Shu Qi (Three Times) plays May, a young mother who moves into a new apartment complex with her family. But no sooner have they settled in than May's young son goes missing. It transpires that he has in fact been kidnapped by a hideously deformed woman (played by Hong Kong beauty Karena Lam, from Koma, in a mountain of grotesque make-up) who believes him to be her long lost son. May is forced into the ducts and vents of her apartment building to track down her boy, and confront this other terrifying, yet equally bereaved, mother. Directed by Soi Cheang (Love Battlefield) and co-starring Alex Fong and Lam Suet, Home Sweet Home thankfully disregards many of the staples of recent Asian horror to deliver an effective little film, capable of providing as many genuinely emotional moments as effective chills.

Tripping is a time travel action fantasy film directed by Taiwanese
director Chen Yi Wen. It is a cross-cultural collaboration, combining
talent from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. It tells the story of a
rebellious Japanese-Taiwanese girl (played by Rena Tanaka from “Kitaro”)
who gets transported back to ancient times and embarks on an adventure with
a Taoist priest and a thief. On the road, the group encounters numerous dangers,
stumbling upon a conspiracy involving a powerhungry sorcerer and the corrupt court.

Synopsis:

Shaodea is a Japanese girl, living in Taipei with her father. He moved to Taiwan
with his wife to start a Chinese herbal medicine shop. Ever since her mother died,
Shaodea wants to return to Japan, but her father refuses to give up his dream. One
day, after an argument with him, Shaodea goes out with her friends. While breaking
in into a museum, the girl is transported back in time to feudal Taiwan. Thinking
she’s on a movie set, the girl gets involved in a bank robbery and soon has to run
from the authorities. She teams up with Haishon, an attractive young man who became
a thief to save the economic crisis of his hometown. Together with a Tao-master,
who is transporting 2 zombies back to their ancestral lands, they set off on a
fantastic adventure.

When it comes to the feature-length anime-action stuff, I consider myself a fan of the stuff -- but by no means any sort of passionate enthusiast or trivia-filled expert. My problem with most of these movies is a pretty common one: Despite all the stellar animation, cool characters and mega-nifty mayhem -- most of these movies have stories best described as ... indecipherable. Fortunately the latest by Japanese filmmaker Fumihiko Sori (Ping Pong) is cleanly-plotted and enjoyably accessible. Relatively speaking, anyway ...

Plus it has some of the most eye-popping animation this side of Miyazaki.

Vexille takes place in a semi-distant future in which Japan has hidden itself away from the rest of the world. Expelled from the United Nations and hidden behind a powerful satellite cloaking device, the country is knee-deep in a civil war of sorts. The evil company known as "Daiwa Heavy Industries" has taken to populating Tokyo with a race of humanoid cyborgs -- but here comes a team of do-gooders intent on kicking evil's ass! Most of the heroes are interchangeable gun-toters, but they also come complete with elaborately cool suits of flying body armor. And that's always fun.

It's an appreciably simply tale, although one stuffed with lots of smaller details and geek-friendly concepts -- just to keep things interesting between the action scenes. And what action scenes they are! Set to a pounding Paul Oakenfold score, Vexille offers a half-dozen action sequences that are really quite thrilling. Not necessarily for the emotional investments or the characters -- but because everything just LOOKS so damn cool. As the title character bounces from scrape to escape, Sori unloads all sorts of slick gimmicks and creepy crawlies. (The massive metal worms who live outside the city walls seem half-borrowed from Dune, only jazzed up with some futuristic paint.)

On a technical scale, Vexille (aka Bekushiru: 2077 Nippon Sakoku) is an undeniable treat for the eyes. Combining 2-D and 3-D animation (as in his earlier Appleseed), Sori eschews belabored backstories and mystical blather in favor of a straightforward sci-fi action-fest. Plus the two main heroes are women, which I found to be a nice switch. (And again, the stuff in between the action is actually interesting!) Fans of the manga comic book of the same name may be interested to know that Vexille is a new story within the established serial, but speaking as a complete newcomer to the series I thought it was a fun, flashy way to spend two hours.

Description: Who doesn't love the vastly successful Japanese video game The Oneechanbara? You got a hot sexy bikini cowgirl killing zombies? Add some extra characters for each iteration of the game series and its gets even better. (Im sure the new Wii version makes slicing zombies heads off all the more physically exertive so as to stay in physical parity with the main character who seems quite fit.

Now the plot of the video game is pretty slim to none, so the movie expands on this by adding SOME plot. Some back-story on the characters is good, as well as a motivation to kill zombies and why of course there ARE zombies running amok. But nowhere does anyone ever bother to mention why she is always wearing a bikini and cowboy hat. Perhaps there is a vague "Fistfull of Dollars"/"Galaxy Express 999" reference here, but still, for those of us probing the sartorial functions of Oneechanbara's battle dress, I guess we should just sit back and enjoy it without asking such pointless questions.

The film action then is very much like the game action and therefore lots of fun. The fight scenes are the highlights and really shine. The pathos and drama are pretty standard but necessary. The whole picture tho is quite low budget and lacking any sort of quality acting talent. I believe the main actress was either a DVD pinup idol or a soft core porn star, so we'll just say she's got a good future if the movie turns franchise. Maybe they'll explain more in a sequel. In the meantime, hell, she's a hot zombie killing bikini girl! Take that Milla Jovovich!

Formerly an electrician, Il-Sun is now a thief of souls in the mental hospital, along with being your run-of-the-mill kleptomaniac. He believes that he possesses the power to steal the characteristics of other people. Young-goon and Il-Sun soon bond together, as their strange personalities complements each other perfectly. Unfortunately Young-goon becomes seriously ill from malnutrition. She believes that Cyborgs should not eat “human” food and thus has not eaten in weeks. She soon loses most of her energy and becomes bed ridden. The doctors say that she has only a few more days to live, if she continues her ways. Il-Sun must now find a way to connect to her soul and save her from imminent death.

When she's completed her education, Young-Mi lands a job at a radio station, as a staff writer on a popular show. As luck would have it, there's an apartment available close to the station. It belongs to a co-worker currently on sick leave. Young-Mi moves into this new place, and she also gets a roommate, one of her colleagues. When her laptop computer breaks down she turns on the desktop belonging to the owner of the apartment. Then she notices that an e-mail has just arrived, and she reads it. The mail was sent by the woman who used to live here, addressed to herself. In the mail she explains that a serious virus is slowly destroying her mind, and she fears she'll soon lose all memory of who she is and what she's done. She reveals that she's spent most of her adult life longing for a guy, who doesn't even know she exists.

Through the e-mails Young-Mi begins to follow the story of this girl and this boy. Meanwhile she also begins to notice a guy who works in the station's library. And still, every now and then, a package arrives from her secret benefactor...

Drink-Drank-Drunk [Chinese][2005]

Siu Man (Miriam Yeung) is a beer promotion girl, doing the rounds of bars and getting customers to buy their drinks, but she and her partners are facing stiff competition from younger, pushier and more glamorous competitors. On her way home from one such particularly difficult days work, where she has also had to fight off the advances of her brother-in-law Brother 9, she helps a drunk man get home, but he ends up staying at her house for a while. The man is Michel or Michael (Daniel Wu)  the owner of a failing French restaurant. It has always been Siu Mans dream to open her own coffee shop, so the two of them come to an arrangement to share the restaurant. Siu Man is approaching 30 and her friends hope that there may also be romance on the horizon for her, but there are a few problems  because of previous bad experiences, Siu Man is deeply mistrustful of men who drink heavily, while Michael  only in Hong Kong as part of his travels across the world  doesnt want to be tied down and is starting to feel it is time to be moving again.

Roccos men are immediately dispatched to Natalies school but they are no match for the team of battling siblings. Unable to get what he wants by force, Rocco reverts to Plan B and threatens to kill Teddy unless the kids can find Dragon for him. With the help of boy friend Jason (Daniel Wu) and goofy schoolmate May (Charlene Choi), Natalie finally finds the clue to her fathers disappearance and unearths the secret data files hidden in the lucky charms. The Classic

Synopsis:
Having presented his view on a rather strange relationship in the 2001 blockbuster "My sassy girl", director Gwak Jae-yong brings you back to an earlier, simpler time for "The classic" love story.

The film tells a tale about a young college student Chi-hye (Sun Ye-jin) who is involved in a love triangle with her friend Su-kyong (Lee Sang-in) and a young modish playwright Sang-min (Jo In-seong). Meanwhile, she uncovers the romance and tangles her mother Chu-hui (also played by Sun) fell into in the late 1960s.

Bouncing back and forth, the film delicately unfolds the two romances of the two generations. Though the time and people differ in the two stories, the "classic" love feelings remain unchanged.

Summary

You Li is from a small town in the South. He is an orphan who would normally use playing billiards as a gambling match to earn money – “Billiard boy”. It is through the internet that he gets acquainted with rich girl, Ah Yin and falls in love. On a certain day, a group of people comes from Taipei to the billiard gallery from the Shao Shi Enterprise. The purpose is to discuss with the gallery the matter of taking over the place. The leader is a good billiard player, whose nickname is called “Kuai Da Whirlwind”. He brought along with him his assistant, Bao Long as well as two other followers. There was also a young girl and unexpectedly, she is Ah Yin.

Under the secret arrangement of the jealous Kuai Da, You Li lost his good friend, Ah Cao’s only property on the billiard table. Afterwards, Ah Yin returns back to Taipei with Kuai Da. While You Li is feeling remorseful over the whole incident, Duan Zhi, who is normally hanging out at the gallery, unexpectedly expresses that he has confidence that he can teach You Li the skills of billiards so that You Li can win back the gallery for Ah Cao. Under the teaching of teacher Duan Zhi, You Li constantly make appropriate analogies between the billiard skills and that of his individual style, his goal in life, and the principle of living. His skills gradually becomes more refined, accurate, stable. At the same time, not only does he understands how to win the ball, but he also understands how to allow his opponent to save face and give them leaway.

You Li’s billiards are being played better and better. Under the encouragement of Duan Zhi, You Li and his good friend, Ah Cao, Xiao Nai, started to take part in official competitions. Shao Qi Feng, who operates a franchise of billiard galleries, eventually starts hearing about You Li’s reputation. Therefore, he and Kuai Da together went to see You Li’s competition and this starts involving the resentments and grudges of the last generation.

Synopsis:

Wonderful Days takes place in a dystopic future in the year 2142. The world has been decimated and ravaged by war, reckless exploitation of the earth and over-pollution. Clouds have all but blocked out the sun and human civilization is on the brink of elimination. In this chaos, a group of elites have developed a method of using the pollution to create an energy source, and have used this to build a magnificent city called Ecoban.

Thousands of Refugees have flocked to the Marr, the outskirt wasteland of this Ecoban in the hopes of gaining entrance, but unfortunately this has become a society of the elite and the masses. Instead, the citizens of Ecoban use the Marr as their personal slave labor to work the machines which keep Ecoban running. Life is cheap for the Marr, and the Ecoban elite care far more about their power generation than they do the welfare of the Marr. Unfortunately for the citizens of Ecoban, it appears as if the earth is starting to recover, and the level of pollution is dropping. The governing council has decided to use any means possible to maintain pollution levels to keep their hold on power.

On a more personal level, this story revolves around three people, who knew each other as children living in Ecoban, but are now adults.
Jay - Female captain of the Ecoban guard, who has begun to doubt the system she supports.

Shua - Cast out of Ecoban as a child under dubious circumstances, only wants to show his adopted kid brother of the streets, Woody, what a blue sky looks like. He saw this once as a child with Jay, and has spent his life trying to overthrow Ecoban in order to see it again.

Cade - Security commander of Ecoban, who is deeply in love with Jay.

Suatu masa dahulu, seorang wanita bernama Suci dihukum oleh masyarakat kerana dipercayai sebagai seorang dukun santet yang banyak membunuh manusia. Sebelum mati, Suci mengucapkan sumpahan, mengutuk tanah tersebut dan akan membalas dendam.

Kini, tempat dimana sumpahan itu berlaku telah dibangunkan menjadi sebuah rumah penginapan. Walaubagaimanapun, setiap malam Jumaat Kliwon, mereka yang menginap di tempat tersebut akan dirasuki malah ada yang mati.

Selepas menghadiri sebuah parti, empat orang remaja - Ramon, Dhika, Sheila dan Joana menjadi buruan polis apabila seseorang menganiayai mereka dengan meletakkan dadah di dalam kenderaan mereka. Ketika melarikan diri, mereka menemui rumah penginapan tersebut yang tidak berpenghuni.

Kejadian-kejadian yang menakutkan mulai terjadi. Mereka bukan sahaja diganggu oleh hantu Suci, malah hantu-hantu mereka yang pernah dibunuh oleh Suci suatu ketika dahulu.

Hantu Suci merasuki mereka satu per satu dan membuat mereka saling membunuh. Tidak ada cara menghentikan hantu Suci untuk membunuh di setiap malam jumaat kliwon.
